Edwardian Mahogany inlaid China Cabinet

The duration of the  reign of King  Edward V11 , 1901 to 1910   is known as the Edwardian period , It was heavily influenced by Art nouveau, the french Belle Epoque also corresponds to this period,

Architecture being influenced by Charles  Rennie Macintosh , Edwardian Baroque was popular at this time.

The Edwardian Period marked a move away from the dark and heavy Victorian Style.
An early 20th century style had an eclectic feel to it, it was influenced by the elements of Georgian, Medieval and Tudor . Light, airy, and simplicity of detail were key principles of this era.

This Period was the last stand when it came to Craftsmanship bench made furniture. After this it became more popular to use cheaper material and machine made. It is more unusual today for craftsmen to use more traditional methods of furniture making.
